Baby bump: 23 weeks

Another week by and here we are at 23 weeks!

Major highlight this week? Moving and kicking around is in full force and I’m loving it.
23 weeks
23 Weeks: Me
  • Overall: Not a whole lot of changes this week overall, minus the below comments ; )
  • Food:  I’ve had another pickle phase this week, a few bouts of nausea, and also some times when I’d like to eat everything in sight.  So, about like normal.
  • Bump: Baby movements and kicks are in full force now and I love it every time.  Today at work I could even look down and see my belly move … love it.
  • Mood: I’ve had quite a few cranky days this week for whatever reason. Maybe it’s all that moving around or our little girl having a growth spurt.  Poor Erik, ha.  At least it’s not the “norm” anymore.
23 Weeks: Baby
  • Baby’s age: 23 weeks
  • Baby’s size: size of a grapefruit; approximately 10.5 to 11.8 inches
  • Baby’s weight: 12.7 to 20.8 ounces
  • Her face is fully formed now -- she just needs a little extra fat to fill it out. She's listening to your voice and your heartbeat -- and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking.

Update

Well I think it’s become pretty apparent that I’m likely NOT going to start posting more often on The Purple Carrot after all.  (At least for now).

Our house renovation and baby growing is still underway, meanwhile we’re still crashing with Erik’s mom.  Our goal is the be in the new house in June or July, as baby is due August 25th.  And then once baby arrives I’m sure I’ll be quite busy, especially at first, as we adjust into our new home and new life with our extra addition!

So until further notice, I’ll be popping in here and there with updates and random posts.  Food WILL return though, I promise! Perhaps I’ll get some posts in while I try out our new kitchen before baby and if not, certainly sometime afterwards.

Follow Along

Until then, if you so desire, please follow along our baby journey on Purple Carrot Kids! I update at least once a week over there and post updates from both Purple Carrot blogs can be found on Facebook and Twitter.  Thanks for hanging in there with us as we transition into this new chapter of life!

Lawrence: 715

A week ago my parents came to town and we spent a day in Lawrence just for something to do.  Where do we stop to eat in Lawrence? 715, of course.  I got the sausage pizza and Erik got a fish special.

And finally ... us!

Hopefully I'll be back soon to share what we're doing to our house!

Baby bump: 22 weeks

Time for the 22 week update!

22 weeks
22 Weeks: Me
  • Overall notes of the week:
    • I’ve been feeling our little girl more and more. It’s a lot of fun, and I’m excited to be feeling those little feet kicking even stronger as even more time goes on.
    • Been researching cloth diapers and it can be so overwhelming. Ha, there’s so many different brands, different types, different opinions that I can only take so much searching before I have to take a break and try again another day!
    • Picked up a few clothing items now that we know it’s a girl.  The fun has begun!
  • Food:  My mom and dad were visiting last weekend and my mom brought me a batch of her homemade cinnamon rolls. They are my favorite and that was definitely the highlight of my food week!! Still loving sausage, egg sandwiches, and chocolate.
  • Mood:  Ups and downs emotionally, as always, but definitely more and more “ups” at this stage of pregnancy.
22 Weeks: Baby
  • Baby’s age: 22 weeks
  • Baby’s size: size of a papaya; approximately 11.8 inches
  • Baby’s weight: approx 15.17 oz .

Baby bump: 21 weeks

And time continues to fly by! I remember about eight weeks ago when my friend at work found out she was having a girl and I just could. not. wait. until we got to find out.  Now here we are, over halfway through these 40'ish weeks.

21 weeks
21 Weeks: Me
  • Overall notes of the week:
    • Good week, I feel like it’s a fun time knowing the gender and now being able to feel her move!
    • Just this past Thursday night, I felt her move the most pronounced yet that I could feel it with my hand on my belly for the first time, like a kicking.  Erik was right next to me so I put his hand on my belly and she did it for him too. Those are the moments we say “whoa!”
    • Only one day this week with a little leg swelling.  Continue to down the water … check!
  • Food:  My eating is pretty much the same with a few days where I’m extra hungry.
  • Bump: That baby bump is growing. I’m at the stage where strangers are starting to ask when I’m due and/or staring at my belly when walking by.
  • Mood:  Still thankful, excited, and joyful.
21 Weeks: Baby
  • Baby’s age: 21 weeks
  • Baby’s size: size of a pomegranate; approximately 10.5 inches
  • Baby’s weight: approx 12.7 oz
  • She looks very much like she will at birth, only smaller. She’s now able to blink and her eyelashes and eyebrows are now formed as well.

Baby bump: 20 weeks (with ultrasound pictures)

The official halfway point … how did that happen?? Though at times (the first 12 weeks) it’s gone by so slowly, now that we’re here I feel like time if moving faster and faster.

This week was a big milestone (as most of you probably already know via Facebook) since we found out that Baby Borger is Baby GIRL Borger! And just for a fun comparison … I think our little daughter has grown a bit, wouldn’t you say?

20 Weeks: Me
  • Overall notes of the week:
    • It’s a GIRL
    • Had swelling in my legs a couple days this week by the time I went home from work but I think it’s been solved by eating less Chipotle and Amy’s frozen dinners (sodium and sodium) and drinking more water.
    • Also, Charley horses in my toes are not uncommon.
  • Food:  Nothing  really new here.  Egg sandwiches are probably still my favorite things right now.
  • Bump: I think we already covered that above, ha.  Also, they told me at our ultrasound appointment the placenta is a little bit in front, which is why I may not be feeling baby move a ton.  I’m sure it’s still partly that I don’t know what to notice either quite yet.
  • Mood:  Thankful, excited, and joyful.
19 Weeks: Baby
  • Baby’s age: 20 weeks
  • Baby’s size: size of a banana; approximately 6.5 inches
  • Baby’s weight: approx 10.6 oz (though the ultrasound technician told us our baby’s weight was 11 some ounces … close enough)
  • Our little girl has working taste buds and she’s gulping down several ounces of amniotic fluid each day.  We also got to see her drinking some during the ultrasound when the tech pointed out her little tongue moving around. Crazy!!
Ultrasound
The ultrasound was fun, I didn’t realize just how much you could see! She showed us just about everything; hands, feet, brain, heart, spine, legs, arms, etc etc. Here’s the photos we got to bring home … (click on pictures to see a larger version)
First up, the clearest picture of the head, on right, and on left, a view of the legs and the fact that Baby Borger is, indeed, a girl!

In this foot picture, you can see one whole foot with toes and then part of the other foot and on the right, the face.

And the last two: some different views of previous photos, showing it’s a girl and the face:
