O.N.E with summer

Hey! Just wanted to stop in a say a few things … first off:

Hope you all had a fabulous Memorial Day!! I think three day weekends are the best.  We got a lot done around the house, so it was a very productive long weekend.

The weather was beautiful and I got to drink some of my favorite coconut water … O.N.E passion fruit coconut water. (I don’t get it often because it’s a bit pricey). Perfect for a hot sunny day!BErik and I did a lot of grilling this weekend too … basically just burgers, but none the less, they were amazing!  Paired with pepper jack cheese and ketchup =  the best combo.

We enjoyed our burgers with freshly steamed broccoli and cauliflower and fresh corn on the cob. (We were out of buns) …  I love summer! AA(By the way, I’m totally with all of you that said grilled veggies are their favorite … they are probably my absolute favorite as well ; )A And for breakfast two out of the three days in the weekend, I had my healthy french toast.  I’ve decided the more cinnamon the better! (Lots of peanut butter doesn’t hurt either ; )AAAAAAA The second thing I wanted to mention … don’t forgot to enter my current NuNaturals giveaway … it will be ending very soon!!

What did you do this weekend??

NuNaturals Giveaway + more!

Hey, hey!

Summer is definitely here in our part of Missouri!  It’s hot, but thus far, I’m loving it : )  I’m much more of a summer girl than winter!

I’m also glad that our  TV shows (Lost, Biggest Loser, and American Idol primarily) are over!! Ha, I told Erik that we are NOT going to get sucked into another series (at least for awhile).  But not gonna lie, ‘Losing it with Jillian Michaels’ intrigues me and I’ll have to at least check it out.

Moving right along … I got my latest issue of Clean Eating the other day and it’s inspired me to actually cook, ha.  I’ve been bad at that lately … let’s just say George Foreman has been our very best friend, and Newman’s Own/Amy’s pizzas have been consumed way too frequently.AAASome recent eats:

Sautéed onions, minced garlic, zucchini & bell peppers, with sliced steak (eaten with red potatoes)AA Mini meat loaves (lean beef, sautéed onions, minced garlic, pepper jack cheese, eggs, sea salt, ketchup) with curried rice and freshly steamed fresh veggies.A Speaking of fresh veggies … I’ve decided that it’s really hard to beat fresh steamed veggies … even with absolutely no seasoning, they are amazing

What’s your all-time favorite way to eat veggies??AAWe also recently tried a new agave nectar (Ohgave!) and I must say, I’m loving it!BBAAAAOhgave blue agave nectar + almond butter = YUM!AAA

Getting back on track

Hello : )

Thank you all very much for all your kind comments about Rocky, both on Lesley Lifting Life and on Facebook!  We really appreciated them. Needless to say, our house is very different and we’re doing our best to adjusting to life without her around. It was a hard week!

Fitness Update

During the past week after hearing about Rocky, we passed the time by catching up on Lost. It was a good way to distract ourselves, and the distraction was much needed!  We also took the week off from working out, and my heavy carb, heavy protein and lots of water bulking diet went by the wayside. As a result, I ended up loosing five pounds and I’m sure mostly all of it was muscle :p

Ha, I had to laugh at myself for being disappointed that I lost weight, it’s just not something us girls are typically known for … but I love it! ; ) But yesterday, we hit the gym again and I’m back on track to getting these muscles bigger!

Originally Organic Vending

Erik got some shirts made with our new official logo on them and we just got them today … yay! They’re made out of 100% organic cotton and they are so soft!A We now officially have business cards, van decals, and T-shirts. If that’s not official, I don’t know what is ; ) haha.  Special thanks to Melanie with Mommy Doodles Design for the logo help!AA In other news

My friend’s bridal shower was this weekend and it was a success. The menu was: cheesecake, tortilla roll-ups, tons of fruit, veggies, punch, tea and coffee.  Thank you all for your suggestions!

Getting all set up …AAMy mom helped with food and we had it at my mother-in-law’s house, who was also such a huge help! Thanks Linda, and Mom : )AAAA Has anyone ever tried Newman’s Own pizzas?  I recently discovered them when my local Hyvee started carrying their four cheese flavor.AAAI’m a fan … nice and thin crust = yum! Now I’d like to try some more kinds! (hint, hint Hyvee)A I like the fact that these pizzas are bigger than our normal, Amy’s frozen pizzas, and the fact that they’re thin and crispy.  [Find nutritional facts here]AAWell, that’s all that’s on the radar for Lesley Lifting Life … until next time, in which a giveaway is looming … ; )

Tribute to Rocky, the best dog in the world … we will miss you!

Today is a sad day in our household …

Rocky got hit by a car and killed today : ( She was the best dog in the world!

It’s been a really windy day and the backyard gate opened a crack and the dogs wiggled their way out.  We normally don’t keep them out very long because our other dog, Adrian, is an escape artist as many of you already know. Though they weren’t out for very long this morning, Erik went to check on them and they were gone.  It’s also been pouring rain off and on the whole day, which didn’t help at all. Erik looked for them to no avail. Animal Control called us around noon and told us the news …. and the person who hit her didn’t even stop. Thankfully, they said she definitely died instantly, and didn’t have any pain.

We went and saw her at animal control a few hours later and got her collar.  It was hard … we will miss her so much!! I’m not even sure it’s kicked in yet.  So without further ado, here is my tribute to Rocky, our wonderful German Sheppard who we had for almost three years.

So was such a pretty dog, always had a soft and shiny coat … FFFFFFFFFF
Just a puppy, when we first got her:Picture 116 Picture 118
She went through an awkward stage where her ears were too big for her body and head : )Picture 128   l_8dff248607c76af0273cc6365847075d l_48885bd7158042b366445b7fd44e62b0 l_4039407ce4e35d36d514e344c5dff2d6
One time on the way home from my parents’ house we forgot her leash so had to use a cell phone charger.l_e01345e33d9f40bf32611d4518f780f4 l_f650d0689baba6dff1d8adedb769662c
She was NEVER without a toy (or ten).  We often joked and called her Socky or Socko instead of Rocky because she was constantly finding socks and hauling them ALL over the house.n108000379_30818924_5834

She was Erik’s best friend, always trying to jump up on his chair or the couch with him and play …IMG_2864   IMG_2867 AAAAAAShe was always or noise-maker at night. Every night before she’d go to sleep, she’d plop down on the ground, lay her head down and sigh a deep breath of relaxation.DPP_0004 ARThe only place she’d let you pet her without getting WAY too excited was on her belly or when she was really tired or if you were Erik ; )DPP_0008 Though Adrian and her had their fights … they were good friends.AAAAA  We named her after the movie …DPP_0005 She was always the best listener and always strived to do EXACTLY what you wanted her to do, when you wanted her to do it. Like if we were working out in the basement and she was getting in the way of the weights, we’d say “kennel up” and up the stairs she’d run.

Slowly, she’d creep her way back downstairs and sit on the stairs to watch us.DPP_0001 Ha, Rocky had another trademark move. When sitting on the couch (right in front of the staircase), she’d grab her toy and run up the stairs and stick her head through the railing right where we were sitting to try and give us her toy.

It always ended up falling behind the couch and she would then whine unceasingly until we got it for her, or handed her another toy.  Often these “toys” would be a miniscule sized twig or receipt or tag that she would somehow find in the house and carry around.FFFFFFFFF   She loved to play!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Her mean face … ha.  She was also known for snapping her teeth when playing. It was always so loud too. You’d hear a really fast “chomp-chomp-chomp”, and it was so funny.ArOCK And she was the best dog when it came to begging. She was always polite and waited her turn (okay, almost always), and didn’t try to take our food like Adrian always does.BBBBBBBBBBB She loved Erik’s random acts of love such as putting hats on her or attaching bubble wrap to her collar. She also had a foot game they’d always play together when Erik was sitting in his chair.IMG_1893 A And the thing we’ll remember most … she was so loyal. Always by Erik’s side … he couldn’t go anywhere without Rocky following. Any time Erik was in the bathroom/shower, etc with the door closed, Rocky would be laying right outside waiting for him.

She always did outside work with him too, and she LOVED it. She never ran off on her own either (without Adrian to instigate her), just always wanted to be by people. AAA  IMG_1840(sigh) … we will miss her SO much. What a great dog …

We love you, Rocko!
