More summer lovin’ :: grilling & farmer’s market

Yay for another lovely summer weekend!!

(I have Monday off this week so thankfully, my weekend is extended ; )

As promised last week, I’ve come with more pictures so I’ll waste no more time and get on with the randomness of my past week.

Basket of Samples ::
This is a little gift basket of a few of our vending products that we recently brought to one of our favorite KC places that is interested in selling some of the products in their store.  Hopefully they like it!!A Grilling, grilling & grilling :: AA I love kabobs!AAA Stevia plant ::
We bought a stevia plant recently from an Amish vendor at a farmer’s market.  I’m excited for this! So far I’ve dropped some leaves into boiling water for my  tea but I plan to dry and freeze some of it around fall/winter time. Fun!!AAAA City Market ::
This past Saturday, Erik and I spent a day in the city with my friend, Jenn, and our first stop was City Market.B There was tons of vendors, tons of food, tons of people and abundant sunshine … perfect!BB We got a lot!  On our list of goods were:

  • Corn on the cob
  • Kohlrabi
  • Cauliflower
  • Tomatoes
  • Zucchini squash
  • Grass-fed beef
  • Chili peppers (these are for Erik! ha. He loves his food hot and I do not.  Although earlier today he put it on a burger and it was even too hot for him)
  • An aloe plant

BBB BBBB C After a few other stops, we went to Whole Foods  for lunch … I always love the Whole Foods food bar.  They were having a taco bar while we were there and it was very pleasing to my taste buds!CC CCC After eating we did a little grocery shopping, we picked up these fun coconut waters on the way out.  None of us knew which kind to get so we got one of each to try them all … cranberry grapefruit, grape berry and lemon lime. Mmm!CCCC DI have more pictures racking up on my camera already, ha … so once again, there will be more to come : )

Hope your summer is off to a wonderful start!

Summer Lovin’

Well hello, blog world, and HAPPY SUMMER!  Long time no see …

I love summer!  I just haven’t been spending much time in front of my computer lately.  Erik and I have been busy with work, the vending machines, Erik’s grad school (I become chief paper editor and proofreader ; ) etc, etc.

Pictures have been piling up on my camera so here is a small taste of what we’ve been up to!

KC Juice … always love it!AVending machines (some random just purchased products in the back of my car)  I’m a fan of those Veggie Snacks!AA Product testing … it’s a hard job, but someone’s gotta do it! ; )

I’d never had Izze drinks and I decided to try Sparkling Clementine.  Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. I liked it.  I don’t drink much of anything that’s “sparkling”, ha, so that’s probably why I didn’t really have an opinion.AAA5 layer dip.
Recipe taken from the most recent Clean Eating Magazine.  This dip is amazing!!!  We’ve made it about three times now and it does not last long. AAAA I highly recommend it paired with Food Should Taste Good’s multigrain chips.B Loving our furry friends.
Adrian’s so cute, and she knows it!  Trust me, she uses it fully to her advantage to bribe and get attention.
A AA AAA And, of course, the big guy Bubba.  Almost 15 years old and still goin’ strong!AAAA And finally, the most notable thing we’ve does as of late is go to a Mumford and Sons concert for an early wedding anniversary “getaway”.

I tried to rock my best Mumford and Sons look, ha, though I’m not sure why this is a Mumford and Sons look? It just felt right, I guess ; )   It was a really good concert and we were about a foot from the stage … and the speakers, ha.  My ears hurt afterwards!  Though I think my ears are wimpy.  Oh well! Either way, great concert!
B BB
Stay Fresh.
BBB Before dinner, we hit up one of our favorite restaurants, Blue Bird.BBBB CI ordered the stuffed tomato.  It hit the spot … the tomato was so warm and juicy … went perfectly with the quinoa inside … mmm!CC While having dinner, just about everyone in the restaurant went outside because there was a double rainbow … so of course we followed suit!
CCC CCCC DI have a lot more pictures on my camera so more posts to come! : )

What’s your favorite thing about summer??

Chicken Dinner

I promise I didn’t have a “chicken dinner” just for my post title but it worked out well that way.  Right now this is one of our favorite meals!A It involves chopped up chicken breasts, freshly cooked rice, sautéed veggies of choice (delicious with zucchini, onions and bell peppers or asparagus) and seasonings.  The key seasoning ingredient is turmeric and/or cumin and sea salt, definitely makes this meal what it is.  Yum! AAWedding Time

This weekend I was a matron of honor in my best-friend-since-5th-grade’s wedding.  It was a super busy and packed weekend but it was a great wedding and it was wonderful to see all my family and friends!
