Does the weekend have to be over already??This weekend definitely had it's good moments and it's hard! Things are kind of crazy right now since Erik's dad has been sick. Since I haven't given an update, he's got a type of cancer, Multiple Myeloma, so at the moment he can't do much on his own because 5 of his vertebrae are broken in his back due to the cancer. He
started chemo on Friday and so far it's going well. Needless to say, it's made life feel hectic and hard lately, but we take it day by day and do what we have to do! : )
Thanks for keeping him in your prayers.Anyways, on Saturday we got to
"get away" for a few hours and went to KC. We, of course, stopped at
Whole Foods to eat and grab Erik's dad some food to bring back.
Yum, yum!
Recently, we were just
joking about Smart Cars and then we actually got to thinking about it and we
decided to test drive one to see what they were actually like. I really like my car and have only had it for a year so I don't know that I would want to get a different one. I don't know that it'd be a smart thing to do, and I don't know that I'd have a good reason to sell my car and get a Smart Car, other than I like them and in the long run it would end up saving us some money in car payments. However,
I really don't know that it'd be something we'd actually do. None the less, we thought we'd
try one out before we thought anymore about it at all. So here I am ....

It was
such a fun little car to buzz around in! Ha, I loved it. And they're actually a lot more spacious feeling inside than you'd think. Surprisingly enough,
Erik even really liked it, and was more comfortable in it then my current vehicle (a Scion XB).
It's ironic because he always complains about the seats in my Scion hurting his back but
he was really comfortable in the Smart Car. Who would have thought? Ha.
They're also neat because you can drive them as a stick or automatic.
If nothing else,
it was a fun thing for us to do after a hectic, busy week and another one on the way.

My mother-in-law
made tons of salsa this weekend and gave us a bunch ...
thanks, Linda!! : ) It's very tasty!!!
I had some on a
toasted piece of sprouted bread with a
Laughing Cow cheese wedge and
it was SO good!!

And last but not least, here are some
veggies I picked up this Sunday for the surplus of our church's community garden. Some
yellow tomatoes and kohlrabi.
(I was SO excited to see kohlrobi there!)
Anyways,
hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I
can't wait to continue my Lifting and Clean Eating series this week! Here's
Part One in case you missed it!
; )
"We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty."
-Mother Teresa-
I saw those cars all over London--so tiny!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are glowing compared to your pre-lifting photos! Can't wait to read more of the series!
I love homemade salsa!
ReplyDeleteHA! Love Smart Cars :)
ReplyDeleteI'm praying hard for Erik's father's recovery.
That salsa looks so yummy!
ReplyDeleteThose cars are so crazy looking...I have always been curious what it would be like to drive one though! Hooray for the WFs trip AND for the fresh homemade salsa (yummy). As always, you, Erik and his dad are all in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen or heard of kohlrabi, but I LOVE trying out new foods. What exactly is it and what does it taste like?
ReplyDeleteWow... the salsa looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Eric's dad. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in that Smart car!! I think these things are too cute, but I would think I would feel a little silly driving one.
Glad to hear you had a great weekend darling!
Praying for your fam and Erik's dad!!
ReplyDeleteAnd you look adorable in the smart car!!
You look great in that Smart Car! They are so neat, but they just seem so dangerous. Obviously tests have been done with them, but I can't get over how small they are!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking salsa. I LOVE salsa! During the summer my salsa is usually watermelon salsa, yum!
we will continue to keep your father in-law in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute in that smart car!
Those cars are freakin' adorable!! How easy to park, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping Erik's father - and your family - in my prayers!!
Aw, you look so cute in the Smart car! I have always wondered how they were to drive. I find it weird that you can drive it as an automatic OR stick. That's cool!
ReplyDeleteYou look cute in that car!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen them around my town, and I love them!
Sorry about your father-in-law. I have a brother in law fighting cancer right now, and he has a broken hip because of it. I hope the chemo helps, he'll be in my thoughts.
Have a great week Lesley!
Sorry about Erik's dad. That has to be rough. I'm thinking about you!
ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't be surprised if Erik could LIFT the smart car and just carry you around in it. No need for gas!
I am so sorry to hear about Erik's dad -- my thoughts and prayers are with you both and his family <3
ReplyDeletehaha that smart car looks SO fun :)
ReplyDeleteErik's dad is DEFINITELY in my prayers
The salsa looks yummy and the kohlrabi and the yellow tomatoes should be nice. What are you making with those? So sorry about Erik's dad, hope he will be ok.
ReplyDeletesmart cars are pretty cool! in france, they are all parked with the headlights facing the curb, because the length of the car is about the width of a regular car. pretty crazy right??
