New products & the great bagel debate

Happy Valentine’s Day! : )

Okay, so I have officially been neglecting Lesley Lifting Life, Twitter, and my inbox lately! Ha, but just to let you all know, I’m still alive and I’m still doing wonderfully ; )  I’ve just been busy with a new work schedule, helping Erik stock vending machines, and lifting.  I guess it’s just the ebb and flow of my blogging career, haha.

P.S. THANK YOU for all your nice comments about finding Rocky …. we were so relieved to get her back!DPP_0004DPP_0005
Here’s a couple new foods I’ve tried recently…

First up, a Jay Robb peanut butter bar. While his picture on front is kind of weird, I actually really liked the taste. It was a nice break from a date-based  bar! Does anyone else get tired of dates in healthy bars or is it just me??DPP_0001 And Zevia. I was out of the loop when it was going around the blog world awhile back, but I finally tried one. I haven’t had a pop (or soda, as some might say; ) in a really long time!  My stomach wasn’t used to the carbonation but if I was a soda drinker, this would be my soda of choice. I really appreciate that they’re sweetened with stevia!

Right now we have Hansen’s sodas in our vending machines. We wouldn’t mind putting some Zevia in them buuut it’s just not nearly as cost efficient as Hansen’s and everyone buying seems to be happy with Hansen’s.DPP_0002    I also ate a French Meadow’s Bakery hemp bagel this afternoon. I love French Meadows hemp breads!DPP_0006
I remember the first time I went to New York with Erik (he’s from NY) and realized that everyone there ate bagels sandwich style. That was weird to me! Ha, here in my part of the Midwest everyone spreads their topping of choice on each side of the bagel and eats them individually.

So I’m curious …. do you eat your bagels sandwich style or individually and where are you from?? I now prefer sandwich style, as you can see, haha:DPP_0007
Speaking of Valentine’s Day weekend … I got a package on Friday from my Secret Blogger Valentine, who happened to be Kacy at Low and Behold. She must know me because my package included three different packets of tea, Truvia, some cute heart cutter sets, and an awesome Valentine’s Day mug (which was in the dishwasher because I couldn’t resist using it right away) I love it all!!! Thanks so much, Kacy! : )

As you can see, I dug right in and have already drank a lot of my Tazo Passion tea (it’s one of my favorites) so the container is not pictured, ha.DPP_0003

What are you doing to celebrate Valentine’s Day? I think Erik and I are waiting until next weekend to “officially” celebrate because I have a 3-day weekend and it will be more fun that way ; )

Anyways, thank you all for sticking with me despite by ebb and flow of inconsistent blogging. I hope everyone is enjoying life and its many blessings!! : )

  1. I think the date flavor that's in plain/nut butter-filled Medjools is lost when incorporated into bars, but I really, really like the soft chewiness they add. :] Nectar + Prana bars are my favorites!

I've always eaten my bagels "halved." I actually thought a half-bagel WAS a bagel before I saw an actual package of them, haha.

    Enjoy your three-day V-Day next week! ;)

  2. I've never tried any Jay Robb products surprisingly, but the picture has always made me laugh! What a fun little vday package!
    Have a good weekend!

  3. I've always eaten my bagels open faced. It makes them last longer and sandwich style is too much bread per bite ratio for me. Okay wow - I'm way too serious about bagel consumption.

  4. I prefer individually - even if I pack it as a a PB&J sandwich I separate it!

  5. Glad to hear you're doing well :) I was a little worried about you but TOTALLY understand how hectic life can get! I want to get that Jay Robb bar for Joshers- assume its made with whey? Let me know :) Great vday package. I like my bagels plain and just tear off pieces to eat it -yum!

  6. Ugh I actually threw 2 bars in the trash today because of that date taste. What's the deal?! I like my bagels sandwich style too! That bagel looks delicious. I'll have to see if I can find some near me :)

  7. Whether or not I eat my bagel open faced or sandwich style depends on the filling. If it's a PB&J type I eat it open faced. Meat and cheese will be closed.

  8. I love bagels...sandwich style! We went to a play last night, and were doing dinner at home tonight. We exchanged gifts earlier.

  13. I'm not a big fan of bagels and haven't eaten one since I was in my teens. They're too heavy in my belly!

Dates are so good. I'll have to check out that bar!

  14. I don't mind your blogging style, it makes it so much fun when I see a post of your's pop up in my Google Reader! :)

It depends on what is on the bagel whether I eat it sandwich style or not. PB & banana, I eat open face to savor it all..but if i just put turkey and cheese and veggies, sandwich is the way to go.

  16. welcome back! I feel the same way about Jay Robb, but now I am just used to seeing the face on his products. I love Hansons sodas, my fav is the diet creamy rootbeer. Enjoy your week!

  17. No worries, you are super busy and I totally understand. I think if we didn't have to sleep it would be perfect lol I've never tried jay robb products. I prefer open style bagels to have more opportunity for munchin', but really I like them any way :) Hope you're having a nice week, so glad you got your doggie back!

  18. Hi Lesley! I am with you, I eat my bagel open faced one side at a time. In fact I've never eaten a bagel like a sandwich, it would be gone too quick!

Glad everything is going well with you and I am so happy you got your dog back!

  19. I kind of like the inconsisent blogging. Helps me keep up with all of the post. For instance, I'm just catching this one after it's been up for four days, but it's all good because you haven't posted anything new since then!

And I'm from Louisiana and eat my bagels one half at a time. I think sandwich style would be less satisfying and too thick.
